VERSUVIANITE forms attractive, prismatic crystals that may be black, green, purple, white or dark red. Spectacular deep purple and dark red specimens have been found in the Kalahari manganese field. The deep red contain large amounts of manganese and have been classified as a new species called MANGANVESUVIANITE.
