Ocean (or Orbicular) Jasper

OCEAN JASPER, (or sometimes known as ORBICULAR JASPER) comes from Madagascar and is given its name because it can only be gathered from tidal pools at low tide from one specific spot in Madagascar's Ambolobozo Peninsula.

The first documented discovery of OCEAN JASPER was in 1922, but it was in 1955 the first specimen was bought to the Museum of Science in Paris. Only in 1998 was the exact location of this beautiful stone ' discovered', by a Frenchman, Paul Obeniche, who had spent over 40 years searching the 1,000km long Madagascar Island for it.

It is believed to begin as RHYOLITE, having been born from acient lava flows, which cooled quickly, after an unknown geological event. Geologist know that over hundreds of millions of years Rhyolite will be replaced by Silica (QUARTZ), which esentially "petrifies" the original rock. Speculation is that the stunning swirls, bubbles, sprays, and brilliant colours could have been as a result of a lava flow burying a Coral bed that has been petrified.

OCEAN JASPER is gaining a reputation with healers and lightworkers as a powerful healing and creative tool and a good travel companion for the adventurous.
