FOSSILISED (or PETRIFIED) WOOD is literally wood turned into stone! All the organic materials have been replaced with minerals, (most often a silicate, such as quartz), while retaining the original structure of the wood.

Generally the wood is buried under sediment, and is preserved due to lack of oxygen. Mineral rich water flowing through the sediment will deposit minerals into the plant's cells and as the plant begins to decay, a stone mould forms in its place. The red and yellow colors in the wood are stains from elements such as manganese, iron and copper in the water and mud during the petrification process.

Very grounding stone (works well with the base chakra), which soothes the emotons and helps relieve stress.  Used by light workers to combat polution and access past lives.  Will also help ailments relating to the bones, arthritis, allergies and hayfever.

There are several beautiful specimens of FOSILISSED WOOD in our stockroom. They weigh  between  52gm  and  110gm  and  measure  from  20mm  to  45mm. All have one polished face and the colors range from a pinkish orange to a brownish orange. Most have good bark structure and are self standing.
