The RED variety of CORUNDUM is commonly known as a RUBY and all the other colors are known as SAPPHIRE.
CORUNDUM is the second hardest natural mineral known to science, (although a diamond is fourtimes harder) which makes not only valuable as a gemstone or mineral specimen, but as an abrasive. CORUNDUM occurs mainly in metamorphic rocks and is easily recognizable by their hexagonal, barrel shaped crystal form. Although mined in the Limpopo province of South Africa and in parts of Namibia, the bulk of southern Africa's CORUNDUM comes from Zimbabwe.
Used by ancient wise men and by healers today, SAPPHIRE will assist during meditation to open oneself up to heavenly messages and to help clarifying the information received.
