Aegirine

Named after Aegir, the Scandinavian god of the sea, AEGIRINE belongs to the proxene group of minerals and it's colour varies from dark green to black .

It forms prismatic crystals with blunt terminations and also fibrous masses. Commonly found in some metamorphic rocks, AEGIRINE (ACMITE) is fairly common in the Kalahari Manganese fields, although all these specimens below are from our neighbouring state of Malawi.

Used by holistic healers to benifit in the healing of the immune system, bones, nerves and muscular pain. Aegirine is also believed to strengthen personal integrity and remove emotional blockages, allowing healing to take place.
